The recommended time frame for the Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is:
Council Championship – Early September
District Championship – Early October;
Chapter Championship – Mid or Late October
State/Regional Championship – Early November

Free Throw Championship for boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14.
Schedule a date and location for the event. Contact schools, community centers and youth centers to reserve a basketball court. January is recommended for council competitions, February for district competitions, and March/April for regional and state championships.

Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Contest is open to all young people between the ages of 8 and 14.
Local councils should begin promoting the contest at the start of the school year so that students can work on posters during the fall months. Council judging should take place in January. District/regional and state competition should take place in February or early March. The deadline for receipt of state-level winning entries at the Supreme Council office for the international competition is March 31. International winners will be announced in May.

Essay Contest open to all Catholic students — in public, private or parochial schools — in grades 8,9,10,11 and 12 during the current school year.
July/August: Councils, assemblies and circles order Knights of Columbus Essay Contest Kits from the Supreme Council Office.
August/September: Councils, assemblies and circles contact schools to secure cooperation. At this time the date, place and means of recognizing winners should be determined.
September/October: Students write essays. Essays should be submitted to judges by October 15.
October/November: Judges review essays for council level.
The Essay Contest council participation form (#4216) for the council level should be filled out and sent to the Supreme Council Department of Fraternal Services by January 30.
December/January: District Judging if necessary February/March: State judging. Essays due to the Supreme Council for international judging by April 15. Jurisdiction winners should be

April 1 Applications for Refund Support Vocations Program (#2863) due at Supreme Council office between now and June 30.
